Jeffrey Piper

Jeffrey Piper

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Jeff joined Svoboda Capital Partners (“SC”) in 2004 and is responsible for sourcing and evaluating potential investment opportunities, leading due diligence, structuring and negotiating transactions, and managing portfolio company investments. Jeff currently serves as chairman of Infinite Packaging Group and SWC Technology Partners. Previously, Jeff was intimately involved with other SC portfolio companies, including OPT Holdings (Optronics/Primos), The Glover Park Group, Nth Degree, and Coffee Bean International. He also serves on the boards of both the Illinois Venture Capital Association (IVCA) and Chicago Association of Private Equity Executives (CAPEX).

Prior to joining SC, Jeff spent four years with the Investment Banking group at Robert W. Baird & Co. (“Baird”) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. During his tenure at Baird, Jeff focused the majority of his time on the business services and consumer industry groups.

Jeff is also actively involved in the community and is currently ATO Gamma Zeta House Corporation Vice Chairman, as well as supports the Sunshine through Golf Foundation, the National Kidney Foundation, and his parish.

Jeff holds a BS degree in Finance with honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and an MBA with concentrations in Finance and Organizational Management from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Jonathan Dries

Jonathan Dries

DIRECTOR

Jon joined Parallel49 in 2006 and is based in Lake Forest. He is a key member of the firm's investment transaction team.

Jon is a board member of Gold Standard Baking and MedTorque, both current portfolio companies. He was previously a board member of CPI Card Group from 2007 – 2015, prior to its initial public offering.

Prior to joining Parallel49, Jon was an investment banker at Robert W. Baird & Co., where he was involved in a variety of mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance transactions. Jon has also worked in corporate development and strategy at Thermo Fisher Scientific, a provider of scientific products and services, and at National City Corporation in its Equity Sponsor and Investment Banking groups.

Jon obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Accounting from the University of Dayton, where he graduated with high honors, and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School. Jon is the past President of the Chicago Association of Private Equity Executives (CAPEX).

Principal

Phil joined Pfingsten in 2008 as a member of the corporate finance team, and since that time has been involved in screening and processing several investment opportunities. He also has experience in acquisitions, debt and equity financing and supporting investment management activities.

Prior to joining Pfingsten, Phil was an Analyst in the Investment Banking Group at Lazard Middle Market in Chicago. Before taking that position, he worked as an analyst at Cleary Gull, a boutique investment banking firm in Milwaukee, and in financial valuation at American Appraisal Associates.

A Wisconsin native, Phil holds a BBA degree in Finance, Economics and Mathematics from Marquette University and an MBA degree in Finance, Entrepreneurship and Strategic Management from University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Jeremy Stump

Jeremy Stump

Vice President

Jeremy F. Stump, Vice President, joined Merit in 2011. Jeremy was previously a Vice President in Fifth Third Bank’s Structured Finance Group, specializing in sponsor leveraged finance and based in the Chicago office. At Fifth Third, Jeremy worked across various industries, including aerospace, automotive, business and consumer services, consumer products, defense, environmental remediation, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, merchant processing, natural resource, and retail. Prior to working in the Structured Finance Group at Fifth Third Bank, Jeremy was a commercial lender within Fifth Third Bank’s Middle Market Commercial Lending division in Chicago.

Jeremy received an M.B.A. with honors, Beta Gamma Sigma, from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with concentrations in finance and entrepreneurship. He earned his B.S. in finance from Butler University, where he played NCAA Division I-AA collegiate football.

Jeremy currently serves on the Board of Directors of Crown Products & Services, Inc., U.S. Minerals, Bakewise Brands, Inc. and Kinex R&M Holdco, LLC.

Jeremy is actively involved as a member of the Board of Directors of Interfaith House, a Chicago non-profit organization located on Chicago’s West Side that provides interim housing and care to ill and injured homeless individuals.

Kyle Lattner

Kyle Lattner

Vice President

Kyle Lattner, a Vice President, joined Waud Capital in 2013. Prior to joining WCP, he worked as an investment professional at American Securities LLC, a middle-market private equity firm based in New York. At American Securities, Mr. Lattner was actively involved in all aspects of the firm’s investment process, including deal origination, execution, and the monitoring of portfolio companies. He has worked across a broad range of sectors, including business and consumer services, restaurants, industrial, chemicals, education, and specialty distribution. Mr. Lattner began his career as an investment banker in the M&A groups at CIBC World Markets and Oppenheimer & Co.

Mr. Lattner holds a B.S.B.A., summa cum laude, in Finance and Economics from Boston University and an M.B.A., with distinction, from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Acadia Healthcare Company (NASDAQ: ACHC) and as an observer of the Board of Cordant Health Solutions™ (previously Sterling Healthcare Holdings). In addition to his roles at WCP, Mr. Lattner also serves as a board member of the Chicago Association of Private Equity Executives (CAPEX).

Mr. Friedman joined IPI Data Center Partners in 2017 and is a Director. Prior to IPI, Mr. Friedman was a Vice President at Sterling Partners focused on all aspects of the deal process including identification and due diligence of prospective acquisitions, and management and oversight of the active portfolio. Mr. Friedman worked across Sterling’s industries of focus: Business Services, Healthcare Services and Education. 

Prior to Sterling, Mr. Friedman worked at Versa Capital Management, a distressed and special situations private equity firm. He began his career in the Financial Restructuring Group at Houlihan Lokey. Mr. Friedman received a BS in Economics from the Wharton School and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management.

David joined Svoboda Capital Partners ("SC") in 2015 and is responsible for sourcing and evaluating potential investment opportunities, leading due diligence, structuring and negotiating transactions, and managing portfolio company investments. David serves as a board participant for Strategic Marketing, Inc. and SWC Technology Partners. 

Prior to joining SC, David spent a number of years in middle market private equity and beforehand was an Investment Banking Analyst with Harris Williams & Co. ("HW") in Minneapolis, Minnesota. During his tenure at HW, David focused the majority of his time on mergers and acquisitions in the business services and consumer sectors. 

David holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance with honors from George Washington University and an MBA with concentrations in Accounting, Finance and Organizational Management from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Ryan is a Principal at LaSalle Capital and is responsible for transaction evaluation and execution, due diligence, portfolio management, and business development. Prior to rejoining LaSalle, Ryan was a Vice President at Svoboda Capital Partners, a lower middle market private equity fund in Chicago. He was also previously an Associate at LaSalle Capital and an Investment Banking Analyst at Houlihan Lokey in their Chicago office. An Illinois native, Ryan holds a BS with High Honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
